What are the best baseball gloves for a middle infielder and outfielder?
I play second base and a little shortstop, but also centerfield and will start to pitch soon. I am 14 years old and playing select starting this winter. Right now I only use a rawlings gold glove series it cost about 90$ and it is a 11 1/4. I am looking for 2 gloves one of which I want a 11 1/2 and outfield whatever size you guys recommend. I dont mind the price as long as it’s 200$ or under. Thanks!
For a middle infielder, a small glove with a round shape between 11″ and 12″. I use the Wilson A2000 but select gloves from Mizzuno and Rawlings can be just as good if not better.
I’m not an outfielder, but several of my friends have the Rawlings
Trapeze and they all love it. All you need is a glove between 12″ and about 14″.
Above all, no matter where you play, make sure it is comfortable and works for whatever you need it to. (Turning double plays, scooping the ball off of the ground, etc.)

Clearing The Bases $12.19 Clearing the Bases is a much-needed call to arms by one of baseball’s most respected players. Drawing on his experiences as a third baseman, a manager, and, most recently, a fan, Mike Schmidt takes on everything from skyrocketing payrolls, callous owners, and unapproachable players to inflated statistics, and, of course, ersatz home run kings. But Schmidt’s book goes beyond the Balco investigation and never-ending free-agent bonanzas that dominate the back pages. It also examines all that’s right with our national pastime, including interleague play, expansion, and, most surprisingly, better all-around hitters. Riveting, wise, and illuminating, Clearing the Bases is a hall of famer’s look at how Major League Baseball has lost its way and how it can head back home. |

Clearing the Bases $9.79 Who was better, Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays? Who was the best right-hander of the ’60s, Bob Gibson or Juan Marichal? Who is the greatest starting pitcher of all time? At his peak, who was more valuable, Joe DiMaggio or Ted Williams? It is guaranteed to spark thousands of heated debates and to supply the fuel for thousands more. Cost $11.49 THE LUMINOUS AND GRIPPING NEW NOVEL FROM "ONE OF OUR BEST WRITERS" (JONATHAN YARDLEY, THE WASHINGTON POST ) When Julia Lambert, an art professor, settles into her idyllic Maine house for the summer, she plans to spend the time tending her fragile relationships with her father, a repressive neurosurgeon, and her gentle mother, who is descending into Alzheimer’s. But a shattering revelation intrudes: Julia’s son Jack has spiraled into heroin addiction. In an attempt to save him, Julia marshals help from her looseknit clan: elderly parents; remarried ex-husband; removed sister; and combative eldest son. Ultimately, heroin courses through the characters’ lives with an impersonal and devastating energy, sweeping the family into a world in which deceit, crime, and fear are part of daily life. Roxana Robinson is the author of Sweetwater , which Booklist called a "hold-your-breath novel of loss and love." Billy Collins praised Robinson as "a master at moving from the art of description to the work of excavating the truths about ourselves." In Cost , Robinson tackles addiction and explores its effects on the bonds of family, dazzling us with her hallmark subtlety and precision in evoking the emotional interiors of her characters. The result is a work in which the reader’s sense of discovery and compassion for every character remains unflagging to the end, even as the reader, like the characters, is caught up in Cost ‘s breathtaking pace. |

Rob Neyer’s Big Book Of Baseball Blunders: A Complete Guide To The Worst Decisions And Stupidest Moments In Baseball History $11.09 BLOOPER: BALL SQUIRTS THROUGH BILLY BUCKNER’S LEGS. BLUNDER: BILLY BUCKNER’S MANAGER LEFT HIM IN THE GAME. Baseball bloopers are fun; they’re funny even. A pitcher slips on the mound and his pitch sails over the backstop. An infielder camps under a pop-up…and the ball lands ten feet away. An outfielder tosses a souvenir to a fan…but that was just the second out and runners are circling the bases (and laughing). Without these moments the highlight reels wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining. Baseball blunders however can be tragic and they will leave diehard fans asking why…why…why? Rob Neyer’s Big Book of Baseball Blunders does its best to answer all those whys exploring the worst decisions and stupidest moments of managers general managers owners and even commissioners. As he did in his Big Book of Baseball Lineups Rob Neyer provides readers with a fascinating examination of baseball’s rich history this time through the lens of the game’s sometimes hilarious often depressing and always perplexing blunders. · Which ill-fated move cost the Chicago White Sox a great hitter and the 1919 World Series? · What was Babe Ruth thinking when he became the first (and still the only) player to end a World Series by getting caught trying to steal? · Did playing one-armed Pete Gray in 1945 cost the Browns a pennant? · How did winning a coin toss lead to the Dodgers losing the National League pennant on Bobby Thomson’s "Shot Heard ’round the World"? · How damaging was the Frank Robinson-for-Milt Pappas deal really? · Which of Red Sox manager Don Zimmer’s mistakes in 1978 was the worst? · Which Yankees trade was even worse than swapping Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps? · What non-move cost Buck Showalter a job and gave Joe Torre the opportunity of a lifetime? · Game 7 2003 ALCS: Pedro winds up to throw his 123rd pitch…what were you thinking? These are just a few of the legendary (and not-so-legendary) blunders that Neyer analyzes always with an eye on what happened why it happened and how it changed the fickle course of history. And in separate chapters Neyer also reviews some of the game’s worst trades and draft picks and closely examines all the teams that fell just short of first place. Another in the series of Neyer’s Big Books of baseball history Baseball Blunders should win a place in every devoted fan’s library. |

Bases Loaded: The Inside Story Of The Steroid Era In Baseball By The Central Figure In The Mitchell Report $25.49 Game of Shadows meets Ball Four in this explosive inside account of baseballs steroid era On a quiet street on Long Island early on a December morning in 2005, more than fifty federal agents stood outside a lovely new home waiting for the front door to be opened. When it did, there stood the central figure in one of the biggest scandals in sports history: Kirk Radomski. Radomski was a regular New York kid who, from the age of fifteen had the amazing fortune of working in the Mets clubhouse. The focus of his job was to give the players whatever they wanted or neededhe got their uniforms ready, packed up their homes at the end of the season, cashed their checks, and helped them beat the drug tests that would have led to suspension. And at the end of the 1986 season he even led the World Champions down Broadway during their victory parade. Eventually, he graduated to helping in other ways: providing them with steroids and human growth hormones. By the time the Feds knocked on his door, he was the main clubhouse supplier of performance-enhancing drugs to almost three hundred baseball players. Under threat of a long prison sentenceand after being identified by players hed helpedhe cooperated with Senator George Mitchell to produce the Mitchell Report, providing names and dates. Now hes ready to tell the whole story to the world. Radomski made little money from these transactions, and in this stunning book he will recount what baseball knew about the problem, his life since the report came out, and who took what. This is the tale of a young man seeing his heroes turn into clay, and the degradation of a once great sport into the drug-addicted spectacle it has become.Game of Shadows meets Ball Four in this explosive inside account of baseballs steroid era On a quiet street on Long Island early on a December morning in 2005, more than fifty federal agents stood outside a lovely new home waiting for the front door to be opened. How To Master Baseball $7.79 Over the years, I have not been content to merely theorize or guess about how baseball could be improved. I had to become an instructor, inventor, photographer, author and more. After 40 years of research and experience, I now feel confident about what I have to say. With each invention, I changed my "theories" into "facts." I invented 19 baseball apparatuses for hitting, throwing, infield, outfield, base sliding, Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch. Two of these have patents, one for hitting and the other for base sliding. I designed 27 batting tees; 6 various home bases; a pitcher’s plate; 8 sets of unique bases; plus a backstop and batting cage. This is a total of more than 60 baseball devices. They can be made at home with a plastic pipe cutter or hack saw, pliers, tape measure, screwdriver, and PVC glue. More important, you can practice by yourself and achieve total improvement. The instructions on how to use these inventions are included. WITH THESE METHODS AND INVENTIONS, A BATTER CAN ELIMINATE STRIKING OUT. This is an uncompromising and educational baseball instructional book, utilizing a step-by-step, self-taught technique of questions and answers. Q: How does the batter have Full Plate Coverage? Can you explain and prove it with a device or invention? Q: How can the batter hit the curve ball? Can you explain and prove it with a device or invention? Q: Why do I hit pop-fly balls or foul balls all the time? Can you explain and prove it? Q: In hitting Fast Pitch or Slow Pitch, at what point should the batter swing the bat to hit inside, middle, and outside pitched balls? Can you explain and prove it? Find the answers to the above, and a lot more, within the pages of this book. FROM THE WHEEL TO THE SPACE SATELLITE, INVENTORS HAVE RECEIVED RECOGNITION FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRESS. THEREFORE, LET THIS INVENTOR TEACH YOU – PLAYER, COACH OR SPECTATOR – THE ART AND SCIENCE OF AMERICAN BASEBALL. |

Entitled: A Tale Of Modern Baseball $8.69 In men like Traveler and Alcazar we find the beating heart and struggling soul of baseball…" -Jeff MacGregor Sports Illustrated; author of Sunday Money Howie Traveler never made it as a player-his one major league hit and .091 batting average attest to that. He was cursed with that worst of professional maladies the ill fortune of almost. Now after years of struggling up the coaching ladder Howie’s finally been given his shot: as manager of the Cleveland Indians. But America’s pastime has changed. Whether Howie can spot a small flaw in a batter’s swing won’t matter if he can’t manage his superstar outfielder Jay Alcazar a slugger with enormous talent (and an ego to match). No crisis on the field fazes Jay and no woman off the field ever rejects him. But one night at the hotel Howie sees something at Jay’s door he wishes he hadn’t…and it leaves Howie with an impossible choice. From six-time National Sportswriter of the Year and NPR commentator Frank Deford comes a richly detailed page-turning tale that takes you deep into America’s game. From the dugouts to the tabloid scandals from the lights of the field to the glare of the media The Entitled is the great novel of baseball’s modern era. "The Entitled is a baseball masterpiece like The Natural and Field of Dreams; the difference is the plot and the characters depict the true inside world of baseball. Frank Deford writes like he played in the majors for ten years. The Last Night Of The Yankee Dynasty: The Game, The Team, & The Cost Of: Greatness $13.79 For six extraordinary years around the turn of the millennium, the Yankees were baseballs unstoppable force. With four World Series championships in five seasons and a deep bench of legends and comers – Clemens, Rivera, Williams, Soriano, Jeter, ONeill – they dominated the major leagues earning the love of their hometown fans and the grudging admiration of players and spectators elsewhere. For the players and coaches, though, baseball Yankees-style was an almost unbearable pressure cooker of anxiety, expectation, and infighting. With owner George Steinbrenner at the wheel, the Yankees money machine spun out of control, and as the teams revenues skyrocketed, salaries were inflated beyond belief and smaller teams were priced out of competition. Fans everywhere suffered, and so did Steinbrenners employees. With New Yorks unforgiving fans behind him, Steinbrenner let the Yankees know loud and clear that their big paychecks carried an equally big obligation: Win now, and win all the time; any season that doesnt end with a World Series victory is an abject failure. As the spending and emotion spiraled, careers were made and broken, friendships began and ended, and a dynasty rose and fell. In The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty, Buster Olney tracks the Yankees through these exciting and tumultuous seasons, giving intimate insights into the stars, the foot soldiers, and the coaches and managers. With profound knowledge of the game, he also advances a compelling argument that the philosophy that made the Yankees great was inherently unsustainable and ultimately harmful to the sport. |

The Cost Of Living $8.59 From the bestselling author of The God of Small Things comes a scathing and passionate indictment of big government’s disregard for the individual. In her Booker Prize-winning novel The God of Small Things Arundhati Roy turned a compassionate but unrelenting eye on one family in India. Now she lavishes the same acrobatic language and fierce humanity on the future of her beloved country. In this spirited polemic Roy dares to take on two of the great illusions of India’s progress: the massive dam projects that were supposed to haul this sprawling subcontinent into the modern age–but which instead have displaced untold millions–and the detonation of India’s first nuclear bomb with all its attendant Faustian bargains. Merging her inimitable voice with a great moral outrage and imaginative sweep Roy peels away the mask of democracy and prosperity to show the true costs hidden beneath. For those who have been mesmerized by her vision of India here is a sketch traced in fire of its topsy-turvy society where the lives of the many are sacrificed for the comforts of the few. From the Trade Paperback edition. |
