I’m very confused. Is using glove oil/conditioner good or bad for your glove?
I’m willing to take my time breaking in my baseball glove. I don’t need it broken in 24 hours. Honestly, I don’t mind if it takes me an entire year to break in my glove.
So I’m confused. I read that playing catch is the way to go. It might take a long time to break it in, but it’s the best way.
But I also read that you should use glove oil or conditioner. First, is there a difference between glove oil and glove conditioner? Second, I read that one negative about using oil/conditioner is that it can make the glove heavy and ruin the leather by clogging the pores (even if you use generous amounts of it).
Players who use the oil/conditioner on their glove will say instead that applying it is actually very good as it prevents drying and cracking of the leather.
I wouldn’t want my new baseball glove to get dry and start cracking, but does regular usage of your glove (without oil or conditioner) eventually lead to dryness and cracking?
