Batting cage surface material?

Our high school baseball team is thinking of fixing up our old batting cage that was built years ago and is in bad shape now. We’re going to buy a new netting, but we need ideas for how to improve the ground of the cage. Right now, we just have dirt, and it’s annoying because of how dusty and all it is in the cage. If you have any ideas for a new cheap surface, let me know. Also, if there is a way to “improve” the dirt, let me know. Thanks.

You difinitley just want to tamp the dirt. It you try to level out the dirt the best you can (rake it) and them tamp it down with a manual tamper. After you tamp it down the first time, soak the spot you tamped with water, then tamp it again. It will be hard and level. If not, you can lay cement down, which is pretty cheap if you get instant cement. Good luck, I hope this helps.
