how are baseball prospects determined?
How are minor leaugers named a prospect? and what affilate do they have to be to be a prospect?
Most baseball players who rise to the top of their league will be noticed by someone. Many times it is a local scout or a newspaper sports writer. Managers from various teams who you play against have connections with pro teams and they pass your name along.
Believe me, a serious, talented player will be noticed.
Things that scouts look for are:
1. Talent, hitting, fielding, running, long ball, and arm strength.
2. Attitude. This is how you conduct yourself on the baseball field and how you relate with your teammates and coaches.
3. Work habits. How hard do you practice?
4, Character. What are your other interests, are you at practice regularly, are you on-time. Do you assist less talented players, do you offer to play other positions.
Scouts and others look for these things when evaluating a player.
Good luck. Remember, only 5 percent of all baseball players drafted in the pros actually make it to the Major Leagues. Making the journey is a lot of work and a wonderful experience.
