Does a youth baseball player in the 13-14 age group need sliders?

Not the pitch, but the sliding shorts you wear under your pants. and do outfielders wear cups?

yes, sliding shorts are definately recommended. sliding on some rough rock-filled fields can really scratch up your thighs if you dont slide the taught way. some different slides used to evade the glove of fielders can cause you to hurt your legs in the rough dirt.

cup is necessary everywhere. i got to the point of using them so often, i was uncomfortable without one. you just never know.
