When you initially grow up into a woman you may not fit into a ready made mold and you’ve liked it that way. Not all girls have feminine role models. Other girls shun the feminine aspects of growing up until much later in life. There’s nothing wrong with picking up baseball bats and soccer balls instead of make up. Pampering oneself is a great way to take care of everyone in your life, even if that means every Thursday night the kids stay with a friend for a few hours.

We don’t have to define tenderness or even being pampered as the same thing. It’s not a bad concept like some were raised to believe. In fact, whether you think a thirty minute hot bath is wonderful or you’re looking for a full facial and the works from the spa, your definition is your own. And whatever that definition is works just fine.

Setting aside just a small amount of personal time really does make you a better mother, partner, colleague, and friend to those around you. There is nothing quite like taking time out and focusing on your needs and your special time. Every life could use a little balance.
